Landfill growth to cost $1.7M - al.com: "BAY MINETTE — Baldwin County commissioners are spending
$1.74 million for nearly 160 acres south of the Magnolia Landfill to provide room to expand and one day add 'green technology.'
The commission emerged from a closed-door executive session Tuesday and voted 4-0 to offer: $790,000 for one 79-acre parcel owned by Geraldine Rhodes, an average of $10,000 per acre.
$948,000 for four parcels totaling 79 acres owned by Jesse and JoAnn Rhodes, an average of $12,000 per acre.
County officials said later in the week the offer was being accepted and signed."
