An office accustomed to dealing with death remained very emotional this week as the losses this year of former longtime Coroner Huey A. Mack Sr., followed by his successor, Jim Small, loomed large over the Robertsdale facility.

'This county has been fortunate to have had Huey Mack and Jim Small as coroner. Those are big shoes to fill but we are carrying on. The work comes first,' said Vinson, 51, of Robertsdale, who has been notified that Gov. Bob Riley has appointed him to replace Small, but had not yet received a letter as of Thursday."
