Terri Auchter column: When the Girl Scout cookies have all been eaten, spring is here | postcrescent.com | Appleton Post-Crescent: "The elation I feel when spring arrives is my reward for enduring the long months of cold and snow. But this year I cheated. For the first time ever, my husband and I spent three weeks in Florida. Well, actually it was Orange Beach, Ala., but Florida sounds a little more interesting. Too bad it was the coldest spring they had there in 40 years.

As we drove across Alabama, it snowed. And it kept snowing. People stopped their cars on the side of the interstate and got out to throw snowballs. The snow melted as soon as it hit the highway but there was still an industrious crew spreading sand on all the overpasses. At times, it seemed we were driving over small beaches."
