submitted by Becky Holliday

Baldwin County Heritage Museum's 2nd annual Winter Festival will open with on Thurs., Jan. 16 at 1 PM with a slide presentation and discussion by Blanton Blankenship, Director and Mike Bailey, Education Director of Fort Morgan.

Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy the new exhibits at the museum and learn more about Fort Morgan. The fort is a United States seacoast defense fort on Mobile Point. It exhibits the evolution of American coast defense and fortifications from 1834 to World War II. The site’s collection includes artillery pieces, military uniforms, small arms, accoutrements, historic photographs, documents, manuscripts and other memorabilia. Fort Morgan will be a feature exhibit in the new History Walk under construction at BCHM. This project will celebrate the 200th anniversary of Baldwin County.

This event is dedicated to the winter residents of Baldwin County and our devoted volunteers. This two month festival of programs will run from January 16th thru March 16th. Admission to the museum is free of charge. We encourage our visitors to bring picnic lunches and enjoy the grounds. A full list of activities may be found on our web site at BaldwinCountyHeritageMuseum.com. Additions will be made to the calendar as the events are confirmed.
