Longtime Gulf State Park director ready to retire | montgomeryadvertiser.com | Montgomery Advertiser: "GULF SHORES -- When Hugh Branyon first went to work at the Alabama Gulf State Park as a teenager in summer 1957, there wasn't even a road leading straight to the water.

Today, the park attracts tens of thousands of annual visitors and a quarter-mil lion campers to its beaches, golf courses, pier and green spaces.

Branyon said Tuesday that he's retiring this month after 33 years as park super intendent. He and the park both turned 70 in March."
