Water samples were collected this week in northwest Florida alongshore between Escambia and Okaloosa counties. Very low concentrations of Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, were detected near the Florida/Alabama border in Escambia County. In Okaloosa County low to medium concentrations of K. brevis were detected in western portions of Choctawhatchee Bay. Additional samples, collected late last week offshore of Hernando County, contained no K. brevis.Click here to visit the Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute.
